Poor man's car navigation. Well, cost of total setup is near a quality dedicated GPS unit designed for in-car navigation. Garmin's nroute is a cool free program that allows you to create routes and give voice prompts. You still need some type of mappng software installed for this program to reference. Can't think of the name now, but there is a free download that allows some non Garmin maps to work. I'm using Garmin's own Mapsource City Navigator North America v8. This does not have the fancy 3D viewable feature nor does it have aggressive re-routing capabilities, if any, that are found on "real" car GPS units. Oh, and nroute only works with Garmin GPS units unfortunately. I think they stopped offering this software, but if you have a Garmin GPS and some mapping software, give it a try.
